Transport and Distribution of Tritiated Gibberellin A1 in Radish

Abstract

|
Tritium-labelled gibberellin A₁ ([³H]GA₁) were applied to cotyledon, young leaves, and roots of Raphanus sativus L. The radioactive molecules were distributed from the [³H]GA₁ donor organ to all parts of the plant. In vegetative plants, there was exchanges of the labelled gibberellin between roots and leaves, and between leaves themselves. The labelled molecules moved into, and moved out of roots or leaves ; this may indicate that this compound took part in the regulation of the leaves and storage root development.
